🏞️ Kullu Valley – A Journey Through Nature’s Paradise

🌄 Why Kullu?

Nestled in the lap of the Himalayas, Kullu is often called the "Valley of Gods" — and rightly so. Surrounded by snow-capped peaks, dense deodar forests, and gushing rivers, Kullu is a blend of natural beauty, rich culture, and spiritual tranquility. Whether you're an adventure seeker, a nature lover, or someone in search of peace, Kullu has something for everyone.

🚗 How I Got There

I flew into Bhuntar Airport (around 10 km from Kullu) from Delhi. The aerial view of the mountains as the plane descended was a dreamlike experience. From the airport, it was a scenic 30-minute drive to my stay near the Beas River.

🛏️ Where I Stayed

I chose a riverside homestay run by a local Himachali family. Warm hospitality, home-cooked food, and the sound of the Beas River flowing just outside my window — it was a perfect escape from city life.

📍 Top Places I Explored

1. Bijli Mahadev Temple

A moderate trek leads to this sacred temple perched on a hilltop. The panoramic view of the Kullu valley from the top is absolutely breathtaking.

2. Great Himalayan National Park

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s a haven for trekking and wildlife lovers. I spotted Himalayan monals, lush alpine meadows, and untouched wilderness.

3. Manikaran Sahib

Just a short drive from Kullu, this pilgrimage site is known for its hot springs, gurudwara, and mythological stories. The langar (community kitchen) food was simple yet soul-satisfying.

4. Kasol & Tosh

Although technically in the Parvati Valley, they’re close enough for a day trip. I met backpackers from around the world, relaxed in cafés, and soaked in the bohemian vibe.

🍲 Local Food You Must Try

• Siddu – Steamed wheat bun filled with walnuts and served with ghee.

• Trout Fish – Fresh from the river, cooked with Himachali spices.

• Chana Madra – A yogurt-based chickpea curry, usually part of traditional Dham.

🏞️ Activities You Can’t Miss

• River Rafting in Beas River

• Trekking to Malana or Chandrakhani Pass

• Paragliding in nearby Solang Valley

• Shopping for woolens and Kullu shawls at Akhara Bazaar

If you visit in October, don't miss the Kullu Dussehra — a week-long celebration that brings deities from all over the valley into the town. It's not just a festival, it's a cultural explosion.

🌿 Final Thoughts

Kullu is more than just a destination — it’s a feeling. A place where the air smells of pine, the mountains tell stories, and the locals welcome you with open hearts. I left a piece of my soul in Kullu and took back memories to last a lifetime.
